Q: Can I get it finished to “match” the same color as my existing cabinets or furniture?

A: We can match stains or paints! It does help if we know what the original finish was – i.e.; Sherwin Williams Dover White paint, etc. Time, sunlight, and a deteriorating finish can alter the existing finish and may reveal subtle differences when the newly finished piece is placed beside it. If you do not know the original finish, give us a sample (drawer front or door) and we will provide a close match to the stain or paint.

Q: What’s the difference between built-in and free standing?

A: Cabinets will be attached to walls or floors and matching trim will be applied to conceal any inconsistencies in the walls and/or floors. Touch-up paint or stain will be applied along with caulk to give the appearance of a finished built-in look.

Free standing is literally brought in and placed without any anchoring or attaching to the walls or floors. This is frequently done with furniture – i.e.; bedroom dressers, desks, TV stands.

Q: Is paint grade less expensive than stain grade?

A: Paint grade is less expensive on the material side, however in order to get the quality paint finish that we provide, it is necessary to invest more time in the prep work prior to actually putting on the paint.

Q: How long will you be working in my house?

A: All construction and finishing is done in our shop and typically it will take about a day to install .

Q: Will you be painting or finishing in our house?

A: The only painting or finishing that we will do in your home will be final touch-up after the installation is complete. This is typically brushed or wiped on and there will be no spraying done in your home.

Q: What is the procedure if I want Master Woodworks to make a custom piece?

A: We will schedule an initial consultation to determine exactly what you are looking for. It will definitely help if you have a good idea of what you want - be it pictures from a catalog, website photos, or your own vision. You will be provided with computer generated drawings of the project, along with an estimate.
